COnVIDa - Publication and communication media
Publication in Journal of Biomedical Informatics
A few months ago, we rethought how we could contribute favorably to the situation generated by COVID-19. Being computer engineers (and researchers), we decided to create a live platform that would allow us to collect data from different sources, correlate them and analyze them graphically and straightforwardly using an intuitive interface.
Thus was born COnVIDa, an Open Source project that allows obtaining relevant data on the situation of COVID-19 in Spain. We have been updating its design and providing new features periodically. We believe that it can facilitate decision-making by public authorities, the work of researchers interested in studying the pandemic, and the collection of information by journalists and citizens.
A few days ago, we published an article that we have done explaining each of the details of implementation and organization and its ability to adapt to other geographical areas, data sources, or pandemics. You can find it in the Journal of Biomedical Informatics of the ELSEVIER editorial (see paper).
Media
Since the publication of the platform, many media have shown their interest in the project developed. In this way, we have been obtaining numerous citations from digital newspapers, radio, and public entities.
